A native IDE on iPad for remote workspaces.

Connect to Coder, any SSH host, or your Mac. Edit files, run a terminal, use AI agents, and preview ports on the iPad. Mac Companion is only required when the remote is your Mac.

How it works →

Coder and SSH work without a Mac · Encrypted files offline · Pair your Mac on the local network · Cloud relay away from home

The iPad is the IDE. The code stays on the remote.

Open a folder on Coder, a VPS, or the Mac on your desk. You edit, run the terminal, and use the agent from the iPad. The runtime stays where the project already lives.

Three connections. One app.

Coder and SSH run on the iPad — no Companion. My Mac uses My IDE Mac Companion for a Projects folder, Simulator, and desktop windows. HDMI or USB-C can take the stream.

How you connect

Coder and SSH do not need Mac Companion.

No Companion

Coder

Open a cloud workspace from the iPad. The connection runs on the device.

No Companion

SSH

Any host with SSH: VPS, homelab, classic server. Terminal, SFTP explorer, ports and preview on the iPad.

Companion

My Mac

Pair with Mac Companion on your network. Open a Projects folder, boot Simulator, share a Mac window — from the iPad.

What the app does

Editor, terminal, agents, and Mac streams — on iPad and iPhone.

Editor and explorer

Folder workspaces, a live file tree, encrypted cache for offline reads and edits. Syncs when you reconnect.

Terminal and preview

Interactive PTY, ANSI color, scrollback that survives reconnects. Ports detected from output open a preview on the iPad.

AI agents

Cursor CLI on the remote, or ChatGPT / Codex-style loops on the iPad. Tools bind to the active workspace when you send.

Simulator

Boot, stream, tap, scroll, type. Quality modes for the local network. An external display can take the stream while controls stay on the iPad.

Mac Share

Stream one Mac app or the main display — VPN login, browser SSO — and finish it on the iPad.

External display

HDMI / USB-C: send Simulator, Mac Share, or a visual IDE mirror. Chrome on the iPad stays clickable.

How to start

Coder and SSH: install and connect. My Mac: also install Companion on the Mac.

  1. 1

    Install My IDE

iPad app, and iPhone if you want it. Sign in if you use Cloud accounts and more than one Mac.

  2. 2

    Connect

Coder session or SSH credentials. Open a folder — not the whole home directory by default.

  3. 3

    Optional: Companion

On the Mac: install Companion, choose Projects, Start Accepting, note the PIN. Grant Screen Recording and Accessibility for streams.

  4. 4

    My Mac + PIN

On the iPad: Connect → My Mac → Bonjour or IP → PIN. Then edit, terminal, Simulator, Mac Share.

Mac Companion

My IDE Mac Companion

Install on the Mac when you want local projects, Simulator, or desktop windows on the iPad.

Native macOS app. It shares a Projects folder, the Simulator, and Mac windows with the iPad. It finds the Mac on your network. Cloud relay when you are away.

Requires macOS, Screen Recording, Accessibility, and a pairing PIN.

Download Companion (macOS)

Latest: 0.4.2 · Changelog

Companion is optional. Coder and SSH never need it. Download the notarized zip so macOS accepts the app.

Cloud plans

Plans limit how many Macs can accept connections at once. The IDE is on the App Store / TestFlight.

FAQ

Is this VS Code on iPad?

No. My IDE is a native iPad app — a remote development IDE, not VS Code in a browser.

Do I need a Mac?

Only for My Mac, Simulator, and Mac Share. Coder and SSH work without Companion.

Does Coder need the Companion?

No. Coder connects on the iPad. Companion is only for the Mac path.

Is UPnP safe?

UPnP maps ports when you enable internet access on Companion — that exposes the pairing surface on purpose. Prefer LAN, Tailscale, or My IDE Cloud relay when you are away.

Where do my projects live?

On your remote: Coder workspace, SSH host, or the Mac Projects folder. My IDE caches encrypted files on the iPad. It is not a cloud disk for your repos.

Is there an iPhone app?

Yes. A separate My IDE iPhone app — same Cloud account, Coder, SSH, and My Mac.

My IDE

Install My IDE on iPad.

Connect Coder or SSH from the app. If the remote is your Mac, download Companion and pair with a PIN.
